The AI Engine admin panel

Where AI Engine is configured, who can open it, and what each tab of the admin panel does.

All AI Engine configuration happens in one place: the Ai Agent Admin Setup tab. This article explains how to open it and what each of its tabs controls. It is written for Salesforce admins.

Before you start#

  • You need the AI_Engine_Admin permission set. Users without it who open the tab see a message asking them to contact their Salesforce administrator. If you also want to use the chat yourself, assign AI_Engine_User as well. See Assign permission sets.
  • The AI provider connection (External Credential and Named Credential) is created in Salesforce Setup, not in this panel. See Connect your AI provider.

Open the admin panel#

  1. Click the App Launcher and search for Ai Agent Admin Setup.
  2. Click the result to open the panel.
  3. Optional: to keep it close during setup, add it to your app's navigation bar. Click the pencil icon at the right end of the navigation bar, click Add More Items, select Ai Agent Admin Setup and save.

If the App Launcher does not find the tab, it is hidden for your profile. Make it visible in Setup → Profiles → your profile → Custom Tab Settings.

The header#

The top of the panel shows three counters: Active Objects (objects enabled for the agent), Active Prompts (active prompt templates) and AI Model (the main model in the Org Profile). Active Prompts and AI Model fill in after you have opened the Prompt Templates and Org Profile tabs; until then they show 0 and a dash.

The tabs#

Tab What it controls Article
Agent Objects Which objects and fields the agent can read, PII flags, related (child) objects, Activity Digest settings Agent Objects
Org Profile AI provider, models, Named Credential, output limits, the playbook, PII switch, branding, Meeting Prep objects Org Profile
Prompt Templates Custom actions in the chat's Actions menu, with optional data sources Prompt templates
AI Scoring Lead and Opportunity scoring: criteria, triggers, schedule AI Scoring
License Trial status, licence activation, licence requests License and trial
Activity Monitor AI usage, tokens and estimated cost Activity Monitor
PDF Settings The look of every generated PDF PDF settings
PDF Templates Reusable PDF layouts that users run from a record PDF templates
? Help & Setup The admin guide, plus an AI assistant that answers setup questions Help extension

A sensible order for first-time setup#

  1. Assign the permission sets and create the provider connection in Salesforce Setup (see Before you start).
  2. Org Profile: choose the provider and model, enter the Named Credential name exactly as you created it, and write the playbook. Click ✓ Save.
  3. Agent Objects: enable the objects your reps work with, tick the fields the agent may read, and save each object.
  4. Add the salesagent component to your pages. See Add components to pages.
  5. Optional: set up AI Scoring, Prompt Templates, PDF Settings and PDF Templates.
  6. Run a first test. See Run a first test.

The trial period starts with the first AI request in the org, so finish steps 1 to 4 before you start testing. The License tab shows how much of the trial is left. See License and trial.

Good to know#

  • Settings are stored only when you click the save button of the item you are editing: ✓ Save on an object, a prompt template or the Org Profile, ✓ Save Child Objects for child objects, ✓ Save Scoring Config and 💾 Save PDF Settings. This includes the on/off toggles in the object and prompt lists: open the item and click its save button. License, Activity Monitor and ? Help & Setup have nothing to save.
  • The Ask AI Assistant panel on the ? Help & Setup tab sends your question to your configured AI provider, using the fast model when you have picked one and the main model otherwise. It uses tokens like any other AI call and is logged in the Activity Monitor as Admin Help.
  • Users see configuration changes the next time they open or reload the chat.
Still stuck? Ask AI, or email contact@cloudconnected.pl with the exact error message, the page or action you used and roughly when it happened.
