What is AI Engine?

AI Engine is a Salesforce-native AI sales assistant that runs inside your org, on your own AI provider account, within your Salesforce permissions.

AI Engine is an AI assistant for sales teams that runs inside Salesforce. It is installed as a managed package from Cloud Connected and works on the records your users already have: standard objects such as Leads, Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities, and the custom objects your admin enables for it.

This article is for admins and evaluators who want to know what the product does before they install it.

What users get#

  • Sales Agent chat. Users ask questions in plain language, for example "show my open opportunities above 50k" or "which of my accounts had no activity in 30 days". AI Engine turns the question into a Salesforce query, runs it with the user's own permissions, and answers with text, a table, cards or a chart.
  • Record actions. On a record page, one-click actions produce Next Steps, a Web Check of the company, Company News, a draft email, an email analysis, a Meet Prep briefing or a PDF document. Admins can add their own actions as prompt templates.
  • AI Score. Leads and Opportunities can get a 0–100 score with a label and a reason, calculated automatically, on a schedule or on demand. Scoring on demand from the score card also shows a recommendation.
  • Magic Snap. A photo of a business card or a shop sign becomes a Lead, or an Account and Contact, after the user reviews the fields.
  • Activity Monitor. Admins see who uses which feature, token usage and estimated cost.

See Feature catalogue for the complete list.

How it works#

  • Native to Salesforce. Everything runs as Lightning components and Apex in your org. There is no separate application for users to log in to.
  • Your AI provider, your key. You choose OpenAI, Anthropic or Azure OpenAI and use your own account with that provider. The API key is stored in your org, in the External Credential behind a Salesforce Named Credential. Requests go from your org directly to the provider you chose. With Azure OpenAI, the features that search the web go to OpenAI instead.
  • Salesforce security applies. AI Engine works with the objects and fields your admin enables for it, and it reads data with each user's own access. Chat queries and record actions run with the user's permissions and sharing, so they return only the records and fields that user can already see in Salesforce.
  • Nothing is written to your records without a click. Creating a task, sending an email, saving a PDF or saving a Magic Snap record happens only when the user clicks a button. Scoring is the exception by design: when an admin turns on automatic or scheduled scoring, scores are written to the score fields on Leads and Opportunities.
  • Usage is logged, full prompts and answers are not. The full text of prompts and answers is not stored. The activity log keeps usage metadata (such as feature, user, object and record, model, tokens, duration and status), plus a short error message when a call fails.

Languages#

Users can ask in their own language, and the chat replies in the language of the question. Record actions follow a language selector in the actions bar. The admin interface is in English.

Trial and licensing#

Every installation includes a 5-day free trial with all features, for up to 3 users. The trial starts the first time someone uses an AI feature. After that, AI Engine needs a license key from Cloud Connected. For pricing, contact Cloud Connected. See License and trial.
