Research a company with Web Check and Company News

Verify a company and read recent news about it from the internet, directly on the Salesforce record.

⊕ Web Check and ◎ Company News search the internet for the company on the current record. Use them for prospecting, qualifying inbound leads and preparing for calls.

Which company is searched#

Both actions take the company name from the record. They are designed for Leads and Accounts:

Record Company name used
Lead Company, when that field is enabled for AI Engine. If it is empty or not enabled, the same rule as for other records applies
Account Account Name
Other records, such as Contacts and Opportunities The record's own name, and only if your admin has turned on Allow PII. Otherwise the action stops with "No company found"

The related account's name is not used on Contacts or Opportunities. For the most reliable results, run these actions on the Account or the Lead.

If the record has a website, city, country or industry in the fields enabled for AI Engine, Web Check uses them to find the right company.

Web Check#

In the actions bar, click ⊕ Web Check. The result is a structured card:

  • COMPANY VERIFICATION: whether the company is likely to exist, how confident the AI is, its official domain and website.
  • BUSINESS SUMMARY: what the company does.
  • PRODUCTS / SERVICES: its main offer.
  • RED FLAGS: anything that suggests caution, for example a domain that does not match or signs that the company is no longer active.
  • LEAD PERSON CHECK: whether the person's name and title are consistent with the company. The person's name, title, email and phone are only sent if your admin has turned on Allow PII. Without them, this card has little to check and may show unknown values or not appear.

Web Check is useful on new inbound leads, where it quickly shows whether a company is real and relevant.

Company News#

In the actions bar, click ◎ Company News. The agent looks for recent news about the company and shows up to six news cards, newest first. Each card has:

  • The date and the publisher.
  • The headline, linked to the source when a link is available.
  • A short summary.
  • AI INSIGHT: one sentence on why the news matters to you as the seller, based on your company's playbook and the record.

If there is no recent news, the answer says so. If the AI's answer cannot be turned into cards, the news is shown as plain text in the chat instead.

From the chat#

You can also type a question such as "research company Example Ltd", "what does this company do?" or "news about Example Ltd". For questions like these, the agent can run a web search and answers in the chat.

Good to know#

  • Web research takes longer than a normal question.
  • The web search is run by your AI provider. ⊕ Web Check sends it the company name, plus the website, city, country and industry when they are among the enabled fields; the person's name, title, email and phone are only added if your admin has turned on Allow PII. ◎ Company News searches by company name only, then sends the search results together with the record's data and your company's playbook to the AI provider to write the news cards. In the chat, the agent searches for the company or person your question is about. See What is sent to the AI provider.
  • If your org uses Azure OpenAI, web research goes to OpenAI through a separate Named Credential named OpenAI, which your admin sets up.
  • Results come from public web sources. Treat them as a starting point and check anything important on the company's own website.
  • Company News follows the language selector in the actions bar. Web Check does not. See Languages.

Troubleshooting#

  • "No company found on this record." or "No company found.": the record has no company name, the name is in a field that is not enabled for AI Engine, or you ran the action on a record other than a Lead or Account. Fill in the company name, ask your admin to enable the field, or open the related Account and run it there.
  • "Web search returned an error. Please try again.": the AI provider's web search failed. Try again later. If it keeps happening and your org uses Azure OpenAI, ask your admin to check the OpenAI Named Credential.
  • Thin or wrong results: small or local companies have little online presence, and common names can match the wrong company. Add the website and city to the record and run it again.
Still stuck? Ask AI, or email contact@cloudconnected.pl with the exact error message, the page or action you used and roughly when it happened.
